A two-hour, small-group workshop to explore poses, breath and practice — from a fresh perspective.
The playful title Yoga Upside Down reflects our willingness to look at things differently, both physically and mentally. We’ll work with familiar shapes like forward folds and backbends, and also explore poses that involve weight-bearing through the arms or going upside down.
This session is designed to help you understand Hatha Yoga more deeply, with time, space and individualised guidance that we don’t always have in our regular weekly classes.
Alongside the physical practice, we’ll also touch on the wider context of yoga. We’ll discuss the importance of breathwork and how it supports not just asana, but some of the other limbs of yoga too — a reminder that yoga is more than just the shapes we make on the mat. Book your place now.
Looking closely at key poses
This workshop is about slowing things down. We’ll take time to warm up carefully, then explore alignment, strength and mobility, and how each posture works in your body. There will be thoughtful use of props such as blocks, straps and the wall, plenty of opportunity to ask questions, and optional hands-on assistance if you’d like it.
Personalising your yoga
Working in a small group means you’ll receive individualised guidance on your Hatha Yoga practice. It’s a chance to really understand how your body works in each shape, in a friendly, supportive setting and with no pressure.
Trying new things
This workshop is your opportunity to explore poses in new ways. We’ll work with both familiar and less familiar shapes, look at how to build strength and flexibility, and help you make real progress in your practice. For those who would like to explore balances and inversions — such as Crow Pose or Headstands — there’ll be time and support for that too.
There’s no pressure to do any pose you don’t wish to, and no expectation of a magical handstand appearing in just two hours. Expect a relaxed, supportive atmosphere with plenty of learning and a little light-hearted fun along the way.
You’re welcome to attend this workshop on its own, or combine it with the 10am Saturday Hatha Yoga All Levels class beforehand. I do recommend booking the All Levels class as a way to enjoy a full, steady asana practice before staying on for this more exploratory session.
Timing and structure
The workshop runs from 11:30am–1:30pm. Ideally, you’ll attend the 10am Saturday Hatha Yoga class first, then stay on — but you’re very welcome to book either or both.
What to bring and wear
A yoga mat (or let me know if you’d like to borrow one)
A large cushion or good pillow
Thick socks
A blanket or thick towel
Water or a herbal tea in a flask
Comfortable clothing you can move easily in
Optional: a notebook if you’d like to take notes
Yoga props will be provided, but you’re welcome to bring your own if you prefer.
This workshop is open to anyone with some experience of yoga who wants to deepen their understanding, build confidence, and enjoy a supportive, curious atmosphere — with plenty of learning, exploration and a bit of fun along the way.
Tickets cost £30 per person for the two-hour workshop.
You can book the earlier 10am Hatha All Levels class using your pass or via a drop-in ticket.
If you love the idea but would prefer to learn privately, just drop me a message — 1-to-1 tuition is available.
